We usually like to discuss online relationships while using social media, because maintaining sociability seems like one significant advantage that the internet provides us. During such pandemic period, we have to rely more on internet. Considering everyone’s safety and the situation of COVID-19, we need to keep social distance, so the connections and activities should be reduced greatly in the real world. We communicate with others through the screens of computer or phone. Apparently, this change negatively influence our ordinary social activities, and it may decline our cognitive functions due to isolation. Many of my friends and family numbers felt depressed and anxious during the time of quarantine. In another word, online relationships make us have more dependence on connections between individuals. We are tightly connected in the virtual way. The form of socializing is transferred into such mode, like giving video call and sharing interesting moments through posts.

Actually, humans are always able to find solutions in various situation. This pandemic is hard for us to get through in the beginning, but the internet technologies assist us a lot during the boredom of isolation. Social media really comforts us in effective ways, not only providing a way to socializing. It adds more enjoyment. Many creators on TikTok or such APP provide people lots of fun, and quarantine life also gives them some inspiration to make more interesting videos. Due to the popularity of Douyin in China and a prior isolation time, I’m impressed by how short-video applications encourage people surrounding me. My mom even learnt how to cook cakes from Douyin, and many people learnt life tips, such as cooking or cleaning skills. That’s really cool, because I never thought that people can also be inspired or united through several popular videos. That’s the progress that internet technology brings to human activities.
